Sacred Landscapes + Spiritual Places

The Dazu UNESCO World Heritage Site in central China is comprised of Buddhist, Taoist, and Confucian rock carvings, sculptures, and sacred sites dating back to the 7th Century AD. To unite the many historic sites located throughout Dazu County, Lee and Associates developed a Heritage Trail System Master Plan linking each of the separate historic sculpture and carvings, while still protecting the delicate natural, rural, and cultural environments. A network of multi-modal roads and trails enhances the tourism experience, provides a comprehensive way-finding system that reflects the unique artistic heritage of the region, and connects urban and rural landscapes.
